Statement on the easing of some restrictions

Statement March 15, 2021
John Longstreet, President & CEO of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association

In a press statement from the Governor’s Office this afternoon, the administration has mandated that effective at midnight on April 4th, self-certified restaurants will be able to operate at 75% capacity, with non-self-certified restaurants allotted a 50% capacity. Last calls at 11 pm have been terminated, bar seating with barriers is permitted, and indoor and outdoor events have been permitted with 25% and 50% capacity, respectively.

While we are happy to see that the restrictions have been eased, we are disappointed to see that the state required a 3-week delay rather than implement changes immediately, especially while neighboring states have been taking action in a timelier fashion. We would like to see the Governor allow the hospitality industry the opportunity to come back to the business quicker, so that these businesses can survive this long period of disruption.
