Hospitality Association Foundation Awards More than $40,000 in Scholarships to Pennsylvania Students

Harrisburg, PA (May 20, 2019)—The Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation (PRLAEF) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 scholarship awards. The PRLAEF is the charitable arm of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association. This year, the PRLAEF awarded $40,550 to 26 Pennsylvania students who are enrolled in a post-secondary culinary arts or hospitality management program:

Philadelphia’s Shilo Kendall also received the inaugural Richard Kubach scholarship, which is awarded to students from Philadelphia who intend on continuing their post-secondary education in a hospitality field. Richard Kubach Jr., the former chairman of the PRLA Board of Directors, operated multiple restaurant and hotels in the Philadelphia area and his passion for the industry led him to create this scholarship to help Philadelphia students who share that passion.

“We couldn’t be happier to have completed our 13th year of this scholarship program,” said PRLA Director of Education Hope Sterner. “The PRLA is committed to promoting and improving the restaurant and hospitality industry and every young chef, future restauranteur or hotelier is integral to our organizations growth within the state.”

The PRLAEF scholarship program annually provides Pennsylvania students with the opportunity to further their education in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Since the program’s inception in 2006, the PRLAEF has awarded over $300,000 in scholarship monies.
