Pennsylvania College of Technology forms articulation agreement with national high school culinary arts program
Agreement paves the way for ProStart students to get a jump start on their degree
Harrisburg, Pa. (November 6, 2018)—Earlier this year, Pennsylvania College of Technology entered into an articulation agreement with the ProStart® program, administered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. The agreement paves the way for ProStart students to get a jump start on their degree, as well as eliminates duplication of instruction.
Through this agreement, ProStart students can earn between 3 to 8 credits toward their college degree at Penn College, while in high school.
The ProStart® program provides high school students with an opportunity to explore career options in the restaurant and foodservice industry through academic and work-based learning. The program teaches students the culinary and management skills they will need to progress in their education and careers.
When students meet academic standards, complete a checklist of competencies, and participate in at least 400 hours of a mentored work experience, they are awarded the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement, which signifies they are well-qualified to enter the industry workforce.
The ProStart program maintains more than 60 articulation agreements and program-specific scholarships with colleges and universities around the country, which can make a college degree more affordable and faster to earn.
